Within Reach: Actions as Archetypes

Routes, Reachability and Nadirs in the Language of Stress

How actions are held as substantiated structure within the Language of Stress, what that structure makes reachable, and how nadirs, fear and hope follow from it.

Overview

An action is an archetype: substantiated structure for how a thing is done, laid down by what doing it has resolved or produced. This paper states that commitment formally within the Language of Stress, a value-primitive theory of consciousness, and follows what it does. It is the treatment that the constraint map for the framework, What a Value Primitive Forbids, cites as forthcoming.

Its central claim is that what a situation makes reachable is a fact about the action archetypes a person holds, and that reachability specifies the Interpretation term of the distortion relation rather than adding a new one. Action archetypes are weighted by the magnitude of what they resolved relative to scope, not by how often they were performed, and each carries a profile across the situations it has met. Nadirs, states held as to be avoided, act through Interpretation and supply no deviation of their own, which makes them formally distinct from inverse ideals. Fear and hope are treated as one read of where a situation is heading, made of routes. Attention is proposed to raise rigidity, a direction the axioms do not yet state, and it is flagged as such.

Seven empirical transfers are stated with their failure conditions, each set against the existing work it shares ground with, including predatory imminence, fear generalization, mental practice, habit and reinforcement learning, goal gradients and active inference. Nothing here is evidence: the transfers require an independent measure of rigidity and an inventory of the routes a person holds, taken before the outcome, and neither exists yet. The paper describes architecture only. It makes no clinical or treatment claims and offers no guidance.
